This is a popular belief in our Indian culture that..the religious travel of these four pilgrimage places will lead them to the path of enlightenment...These places are well known as "Char dham",as Badrinath,Dwarka,Jagannath Puri,and Rameshwaram..

These religious places have their different stories and believes behind their existence and spirituality.These "Char Dham"are defined by Adishankaracharya(who is consolidated  the doctrine of "advait Vedanta"),which consist of  one Shaivite and three vaishnavite pilgrimages.
In Hindu mythology ,these pilgrimage has some historical stories and popular believes behind these ,as in the prominent place,

Badrinath,which is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand in India.The story behind its name is very interesting that,at that time the place was filled with the "berry" tries and  its meaning in Sanskrit is pronounced as "Badri",also it is believed that the place is famous because in Satyug ,nar-Narayan ,the incarnation of lord Vishnu performed Austerity there and known as the  "Lord of  berry forest",and the place is named as "Badrinath"
The next popular pilgrimage is "

Rameshwaram",which is situated in the Tamilnadu state in India,got its importance when  in Tretayug Lord Ram worshiped lord Shiva  for getting his blessings for victory over Ravana...Rameshwaram  jyotirlinga is also named as the  12 jyotirlinga  place of lord Shiva.

"Dwarka

"is the third dhaam which is situated in the Gujrat state of India and got its name in Dwapar yug,Dwarka is known as the residential place of Lord Krishna and worshipped as the pilgrimage.

"Jagannath Puri

",is the fourth pilgrimage place ,which is situated in the east ,in Udisa state in India.It is belived that swami Jagannath  which is also known as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu,jagannath mandir having the beautiful statues of Lord Krishna along with their brother Balram and sister Subhadra....

These four pilgrimage covers the four direction as Jagannath Puri in east,Dwarka in west,Badrinath in north and Rameshwaram in south ,these are the places of believes and spirituality,These four pilgrimage are the sacred sites of Hindu mythology....
